10% of Profits to Charity

Author: Stanley Hunter

Each month 10% of profits from that months sales will be donated to charity.

This charity will vary over time and we'll put out an update when the charity changes with a small explanation of what they do.

For November and December 2020 the donation will be to FairShare. They have been widely promoted as a way to make sure children on free school meals won't go hungry over Christmas. They redistribute food that would otherwise go to waste to front line charities and community groups, feeding those in need while also reducing food waste.

From FairShare: "The food we redistribute is nutritious, in-date and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week we provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people."

How's the donation calculated?

When calculating the cost of making each product I only include raw materials, I don't include my own labour, meaning I'm donating 10% of my income. Raw materials and operating expenses (website, rent, marketing) are taken off of sales to give that months profit.
